Easy No-Fail Amish White Bread

This is my family’s favorite homemade bread recipe. It is Super-Easy and has never failed me. Try it! You will not be disappointed.

Ingredients:

2 Cups of Warrm Water (Approx. 110 Degrees F/45 Degrees C)
2/3 Cup White Sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp of Active Dry Yeast
6 Cups of Bread Flour
1/4 Cup of Vegetable Oil
1 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

1. Add the water and sugar to a large bowl. Once the sugar has dissolved add the yeast. Allow to proof until the yeast becomes foamy. (approx. 10 minutes)

2. Add the salt and oil to the yeast mixture and stir. Stir in one cup of flour at a time. (Using a stand mixer  and dough hook makes this process much easier)

3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Place the dough in a well oiled bowl and turn to coat. Cover with a damp cloth and allow the dough to rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about one hour).

3. Punch down, knead for a few minutes. Roll the dough out lengthwise and then divide the dough in half.

4. Shape each half of the dough into a loaf  and place in two well oiled 9×5 bread pans. Cover with damp cloth and  let the dough rise until it is about inch over the top of the pans. (about 30 minutes)

5. Bake at 350 Degrees F (175 Degrees C)  for 30 minutes.

Editors Note: This can be made in a bread machine. Cut the recipe in half.
